Walking through the streets of Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, the salty sea breeze embraces you with the tropical sunlight. Drive 20 kilometers to the southwest suburbs, and you will find BSD City, which stands like an emerald nestled among coconut and banana trees. This place combines the vigorous energy of a modern community with traditional island lifestyle, attracting many of Indonesia's new generation elites to settle down.
Donpar House, a modern villa jointly created by Sontani Partners and CAMERICH furniture, is hidden in this tropical landscape. Stepping into this villa is like embarking on a wonderful spatial journey across time, space, and style.
The reddish-brown wood veneer extends from the ground to the walls and cabinets. Made from quality local forest timbers, it carries the primitive simplicity and warmth to bring people to the dense jungles of Java Island. Walking through the rooms, one can feel the vibrant vitality and profound tranquility emanating from the tropical woods.
However, when your eyes sweep across the living room walls, you'll instantly fall into a world of pop toys! The entire walls are filled with dolls of various shapes and sizes, full of imagination. From Bearbrick to KAWS and BTS dolls, and even POP MART's MEGA SPACE MOLLY 100% series..., they're like elves from the pop culture universe, injecting mysterious vitality into this tranquil space.
Like true fairy tale elves, they are spotted in every corner of the home. Beyond the display cases, you can also them on the table, cabinets, or coffee table... ready for a distant "hi" to you at any moment!
Apart from the dolls, the walls of each room are also adorned with colorful modern paintings. The living room features a playful cartoon painting, while the staircase and dining room showcase digital oil paintings with distinct Indonesian folkloric characteristics. In the bedroom, atop the cabinet sits Equals Pi, an artwork created by the late French graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1982, on which the graffiti elements against a Tiffany blue background add a touch of unrestrained flair and excitement to the serene space.
With such imaginative design, mild and moderate furniture is needed for balance. CAMERICH furniture is elegantly arranged throughout the space: the soft EASYTIME sofa, the gentle VAST chair, the clean-lined MATRIX cabinet, the comfortable MELODY bed, and the streamlined ECHO chair... Their quiet inclusiveness harmoniously coexists with the traditional South Asian wood elements, trendy dolls, and paintings of varied styles, forming a magical yet stable fusion.
Here, Indonesian traditional culture interweaves with trendy urban art, and South Asian island characteristics collide with youthful fashion, ultimately constructing a unique "cross-boundary combination" in the space.
