If there are really such things as first sight love and bosom friendship, then my engagement with the client of this project is somewhat like this.
It was the second time that I worked for the client, who had a unique aesthetic taste and a good understanding about design. Our communication was so smooth and so pleasant, that it actually gave me a lot of inspiration and great ideas.
The property of this client is located on the Yangtze River. It gives her a unique advantage to enjoy the water in the morning and the charming sunset every day. In addition to the convenience for daily life, home design needs to highlight the characteristics and spiritual state of the client. She wants her home to be clean and elegant, but cannot tolerate a boring sitting room with four bare, white walls. There, in an unblocked white background, I specifically chose several pieces of furniture and painting with a mix of strong colors to light up the room.
Personally, I prefer modern, simple, fine furniture brands. However, most of such products available in the market feature black, white and gray hues, and cannot meet the requirement for rich, varying colors. I spent quite some time searching, and finally locked on this AVALON sofa, a stylistic, comfortable product made of genuine leather. Its magnificent gloss and pattern of flowers in full blossom add a touch of vividness to the sitting room. It is from a top Chinese furniture brand CAMERICH.
Even more fortunately, the brand’s HOME IDEA solution gave me additional inspiration and ideas. After fully understanding my requirements, CAMERICH recommended two packages: a sofa with rich colors and a dining table and chairs with distinct traditional Chinese characteristics.
The design of the table, VESSEL, was originated from the dream of traditional Chinese scholars' longing for the seclusion-style trip on a lake in a small boat. In addition to the simple, refined style of its previous versions, the upgraded roundtable highlights a pleasant dining atmosphere. With typical Ming Dynasty style, the MING chairs feature extra elegance and comfort with their round wood armrests and leather cushions.
This special Zen-themed design turned out to be the most interesting part of the home. I separated he sitting room and the dining room with a light-colored marble wall. Embedded in the wall, there's a root carving artwork featuring a monk sitting calmly, with a lotus flower blossoming quietly nearby. Set in a dark background, the artwork looks particularly calm and peaceful, while adding a touch of Zen to the sitting room. Over time, we are all bound to like this kind of clean, elegant lifestyle.
Paintings and lights usually play a special role in highlighting the atmosphere of a particular room. I chose paintings of the same style for the sitting room, the dining room and the bedrooms. Abstract, but incredibly beautiful, these paintings bring a touch of fine art to this pure, clean place. The stylistic, simple ceiling light and floor lamp with its translucent dark gray shade give a mild yellowish light when night comes – a perfect setting for a sweet home.
There's nothing loud or flaunting, nor any grandiose furniture in the sitting room, dining room or bedrooms. Thanks to the trust of the client, the entire design process turned out to be the creation of an artwork on a piece of white paper. With a few strokes, I was able to depict the client's preferred lifestyle. Nothing fussy, only the clean, pure Zen state remains.
